Central Florida Gliders Track Club is seeking volunteer coaches and administrators for our community-based non-profit youth running club. Must enjoy organizing events and working with youth.
We offer a free training program and pay for the USATF certification classes. Volunteer coaches are in training the first year; then the club gets the coach certified. Coaches must stay in compliance with annual updates and are encouraged to get additional higher level certifications.
For new volunteer coaches, we require:
1- You submit a resume outlining both your work and sports experience.
2- You pick a day(s) that you can attend practice regularly so we can count on you. Practice is usually 5pm or 6pm for 90 minutes on Monday, Tuesday & Thursday and some Saturdays (TBA) at Sanlando Park or the Lake Brantley track.
3- You review our web site and then register as a volunteer. After you register online with the Gliders, you will start to receive memos from the club and practice updates. https://cfgliders.com/online_registration.htm
4- You purchase a USATF card (reimbursed); register as a coach; and undergo a background check. Our club number is #468 which must be on the card. USATF is the governing body of track & Field in the US: http://www.usatf.org/Products—Services/Individual-Memberships.aspx
5- After a year of volunteering and working with the coaches, you take the certification class through USATF: http://www.usatf.org/Resources-for—/Coaches.aspx
We look forward to you volunteering and welcome to the Gliders. Thank you for wanting to support youth runners here in central Florida.
